Wat Takien, next to an old canal in Nonthaburi, Thailand, is one of hundreds of Bangkok’s outer-suburb temples. Every weekend a “floating market” is held alongside the canal. Unlike the famous, touristy Floating Markets, this one is only visited by local people, enjoying some shopping and eating while visiting the temple. To attract visitors to the temple, over the last few years, they have added numerous sculptures, some quite bizarre. The latest sculptures, robot monsters made from scrap metal and car parts, seem incongruous next to a peaceful Buddhist temple.
